Geely Auto has announced that the Geely E2, the best-selling car in the world across the A and B segments in 2025, has been awarded five stars under the new Euro NCAP 2026 and ANCAP 2026 protocols. The result makes the E2 one of the first A and B segment models globally, and the first Geely model, to earn the top rating from two of the most demanding independent vehicle safety programmes in the world.
The E2 is already on sale in more than 30 countries, with global sales passing 800,000 units, underlining Geely Auto’s commitment to high safety standards for new energy vehicles everywhere.
New, stricter safety standards
Euro NCAP and ANCAP have introduced new, more advanced assessment protocols for 2026, the most significant overhaul of their testing in several years. The new framework takes a holistic view of vehicle safety across the whole safety chain: Safe Driving, Crash Avoidance, Crash Protection and Post-Crash Safety. Beyond traditional crash tests, it puts more emphasis on real-world driving conditions and sets considerably tougher requirements.
Strong results in all four stages
The Geely E2 performed strongly across all four stages, with particularly impressive results in Safe Driving and Post-Crash Safety. Its Safe Driving performance is based on a complete set of technologies, including an Occupant Monitoring System, a Driver Monitoring System and advanced assistance features designed to help avoid accidents and protect occupants.
The E2 can warn of incorrect seat belt use, while the Driver Monitoring System detects distraction, fatigue, drowsiness and impaired driving. Child Presence Detection alerts the driver both inside the car and through their smartphone if a child is left in the vehicle.
Enhanced driver assistance
The E2 also proved its capabilities in demanding assisted-driving scenarios. Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) performed strongly across a wide range of conditions, including vehicles suddenly cutting in or out of the lane. Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) with lane centring achieved the highest possible score in its test, keeping the car steadily in the middle of its lane even at high speeds and on roads with tight bends.
Post-crash safety
Advanced eCall automatically makes an emergency call after a collision, sending key information about the vehicle and its occupants to the emergency services for a faster, more effective response. The E2 can also electrically isolate its high-voltage battery after a crash, helping to limit the risks associated with the high-voltage system.
Complete occupant protection
The E2 is designed around a complete safety philosophy that covers the battery system, body structure and occupant protection. Its liquid-cooled battery is designed to improve stability and thermal management in demanding conditions.
In a collision, the Cage Body structure spreads and channels impact forces through the whole body, reducing concentrated loads and limiting deformation of the passenger compartment. It is supported by seven airbags, including a dual-chamber far-side airbag, and an integrated 33.7-litre side curtain airbag that offers the largest coverage in its class, increasing protection coverage for rear passengers by 30%. Load-adaptive seat belts work with the airbags to tailor protection to each occupant’s build and seating position.
Advanced sensors and 36 active safety functions
A sensor suite of five radars and five cameras (5R5V), combined with advanced software calibration, delivers reliable detection and response by day and by night, including complex scenarios such as a child emerging from behind an obstruction beside the vehicle. With 36 intelligent safety functions, the most in its class, the E2 helps the driver spot potential hazards, react to changing road conditions and reduce the risk of a collision in everyday driving.
Growing global momentum
Following its recent launch in Australia, the United Kingdom, France and other markets, the Geely E2 will continue its expansion into further markets during the second half of the year.
